John Hawks qualified as a solicitor in 1973 and has practised at Salisbury, Carlisle and Wigton for 41 years. During that time he has been a general practitioner but with particular emphasis on civil litigation and land law and has been retained for 38 years as the advisor to the Diocese of Carlisle on educational matters.
He was a Notary Public and a Senior Litigator Emeritus with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
He is a keen fly fisherman and has fished for trout and salmon all over Scotland and Ireland and as far as Faroe Islands in the North and the Falkland Islands in the South.
